Fit Friday??

Yes, it’s new. I collect all kinds of fitness photos on Pinterest and names around the web that I find truly inspirational. I am drawn to the human body in its muscularity form with obvious it’s signs of discipline, hard work and consistency, especially those who do it against the odds,  The athletic form to me is artful and inspirational so I am taking this one day a week to share them with you along with any other fit funniness I find.  I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

This week’s theme:


I hear it all the time, ‘I’m too old.” “I can’t do that any more.” “I’m not as young as I use to be.” The power of thought is a powerful tool working negatively or positively against health, goals and motivation..Working in a hospital I see all the real life examples from opposite spectrum’s every day. I am especially impressed with my vets who are 90+ and leading a healthy, independent lifestyle. I always inquire on their  ‘secret’ of longevity. Common denominators? Being active, across the board!

Defying 40’s

Fitness model and body builder Laura London at age 44. I actually don’t classify 40’s as ‘defying age’ per-say because this is a hot decade for competitors and athletes for men and women both.a  Women are rocking their 40’s not only looking better than the average 20 year old but also living better and feeling better too. I love this decade!! 🙂

She has had the best year out of any female cover model as she has graced over 11 fitness covers this year all over the world. She is very proud and public of her age and it seems to not hurt her at all when she mentions it in magazines and in interviews. Martina Navratilova. We know who she is! Retired, Czech-born tennis player who has 59 Grand Slam titles to her name and is currently the Health and Fitness Ambassador for the American Association of Retired Persons. She turned 57 this year, inspirational.

Those previous photos were bit of a teaser, something just to get you warmed up for the REAL DEAL and that is Ernestine Shepard. 75 years old who started bodybuilding when she was a young girl at 71. In fact she competed this year at the Arnold. He favorite saying, ‘Age is just a number.’


Yaaaaa!!! LOVE HIM!!!! From the Inquisitor 11/03/2012: ‘This 93 year old bodybuilder is getting ready to hit the beach after competing in bodybuilding competitions. Recently, he did 57 dips, 61-chin-ups and even pulled off 48 abdominal crunches, each in 45 seconds.

Dr. Charles Eugster is a retired dentist who started to notice his body was getting flabby after reaching his 80s. He began his bodybuilding career at age 87. He even has a former Mr. Universe help train him. After six years, he has a daily routine comprised of more than two hours, where he can put out more than 60 pullups and 50 pushups at a time.’


Quote of the week. Nothing else to say about that, it speaks volumes on it’s own.

  1. Oh wow – Laura London’s figure is inspiring indeed! They all are for that matter but she certainly looks a good two decades younger.

    I like that you’re doing fit Fridays because I was planning to re-instate my ‘fortnightly fitness Friday’ posts next Friday, only minus the fortnightly, because that dropped off a while ago 😛

  2. All I can say is, Wow! Love that you’re sharing these inspirational men and women of all ages. At 11, my daughter doesn’t have huge muscles, but I love when she flexes her biceps to show me her muscles 🙂 I am always trying to promote good eating and exercise as a way to be healthy, strong, and happy vs. being a certain weight, to my kids. Thanks for the inspiration and hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
